Well, my car goes in the shop for it's paintjob this upcoming week. I'm saving cash by doing some of the prep myself, mainly the ground effects.
How exactly should I prep them? Do I need to sand everything on them down to bare fiberglass (wings west kit) or can I get it down to still some primer material sticking to them? I spent about 5 hours today sanding them with 40-grit paper. I have them mostly down to bare fiberglass, but there some hard to reach corners and I just was getting tired of sitting in the sun where I have primer left in spots. Will new paint still adhere just fine to that, or does every thing need to come off? I'm not getting a show quality job, just an average job since it's daily driven. Also, any advice in general on prepping the car? I've been using the 40-grit with an orbital sander, probably gonna switch over to 80-grit tomorrow and sand down some of the rough paint areas.
I appreciate the help, can't wait to see how it looks after the paintjob. I'm having it painted in Nissan's Silverstone, the dark silver/gray that 350Z's are done in.
