Hey all, i finally got some pics of my windshield after i had forgotten to put the hood pins back in.... i was going like 60 mph when i came out of the valley, a gust of wind came across the plains to my right and caught the nose of the hood sending it upward and scaring the **** outa me.

well here are the pics ENJOY AND NEVER FORGET TO PUT IN THE PINS!

Btw, what do u think of my silver painted interior? in this pic i think it looks a little cheezy... maybe a darker color? a little more work, sanding and clearcoating will fix? or should i stock it back.

Damn bro, i'm sorry.... I hate when shi* happens like that to people.... Do you have any idea how much it's going to cost for a new windshield? I like the sliver too, I was thinking about doing that with mine....

           WOW! That's amazing!
The pics of the interior didn't work, but I'd sure like to see the rest of the exterior. I know my car isn't the best looking car around, but if that happened to me, I'd be sick.
Luckily, it didn't whack any other driver's when the hood decided to depart.
Just wondering, why did you use hoodpins anyway?

wow that sucks. glad you didn't wreck your car. its hard to tell from the pics, but your hood looks like its in good shape. is there any way your insurance will cover that?

hmm...its a possibility to get insurance to cover that....get your hood fixed first, then you should be set...."cracked" windshields are always covered under insurance....

im positive insurance wont cover it because i altered the safety latch and put hoodpins in. then i removed the latch assmebly to get that free ram air thing, and so hoodpins were the only thing holding it down. i stupidly forgot them and so my hood was just staying down under its own weight. just think, the wind catching and fliping that hood up. go out and try to push hard up on the hood, the shocks wont let you because they are slow to let out, so that gust snapped the shocks and smashed the windshield, im ****ing lucky im not dead just from the hood... if those shocks werent as strong, the hood woudl have shoved glass shards all over my front side. the shocks held up just long enough to soften the impact of the hood to the glass

Why again did you have hood pins in the stock hood with the stock latch removed??

all of the pics shoudl work now so you can comment on the interior if you'd like. the hood doesnt actually look to bad from a distance but its all wrinkled like, all wavy and bumpy and has massive scratches... i had to hammer it around for like an hour to get the hinges to match up with the fender again.

ok, the latch's foundation under the hood blocks the air flow from the opening of the nostrils to the airbox, i raised the airbox with spacers and then cut out the entire latch so that when you look into the nostrils you can actually see the filter! it means that when driving faster, more air is supplied directly to the filter and not blocked by other stuff.. but in hindsight i dont think it really improved the airflow much. Id rather have a hood that fits and is safe now than one that gets like .1 mor HP if that.

I ported the nostrils, removed the saftey latch but kept the real latch(its only a little loop under the hood), can still see the filter perfectly through the nostrils tho. Only thing left is to cut the bolts that hold the latch on there so I can fit the piping for the nostrils over them. Now if I pop my hood going down the highway I'll endup in the same boat as you lol.
