  • Don't drop the clay.

Yeah, I picked up a Mother's claybar kit today for $16 that included detail spray, a little bottle of wax, and a claybar. One hood and front bumper later, I dropped it. But man is this stuff amazing!!! Anyone know if theres a store that will sell the clay bar separately? I couldn't find any at AutoZone.

Yeah, I was parked in the gravel next to my driveway (only place I could find shade). A $16 mistake, I felt like crap. The clay can have my babies though, that thing is awesome. I called Checker and Autozone and at first the Autozone guy didn't know what I was talking about when I said clay bar but then they both said they don't sell it individually and don't know anyone that does.

EDIT: Is there possibly a site online that sells them? Like a 5pk for $10 or something?

I've just picked all the chunks out and thrown the chunks of clay away, and work with a "smaller" claybar.

For what its worth, Zaino Z-18 claybar kits is $16.95, I think its the EXACT same part, from the exact same company as the Mother's one. From what I hear there is one claybar in stores that is total crap no one likes it then their is a good one in stores and its the same exact one as the Zaino one.

but you get 2 bars sealed in plastic and they come in a little plastic jar.

          gotta mail order it though.

I like the Clay Magic bar the best. The mothers is ok but it seems to fall apart quicker than the Clay Magic. Ive heard the Zaino bar falls apart pretty quick and that the Meguires bar is a complete POS.

Is there anyone that will sell it not as part of a kit though? You get 2 bars in Zaino? I got one in my Mothers for $16, and it had a spray bottle of detailing and a small bottle of wax.

Just claybar, you can order a whole detailing kit(which if you go the zaino route I highly reccomend) but its $85, but you'll have everything you need minus water, bucket, and towels to take the wax off.

go to a craft store and buy some regular clay, check the box, it should say what the clay is made out of... It should be the same as some modeling clay.. never used that, but cant see a big difference.. its a long shot, but that stuff is cheap. maybe its the same??

That's the other thing I was thinking of... Anyone know what our 'car' clay is made from? Maybe I can just shop around and get a 5 lb. block of it ;)

The reason I asked was because I didn't know if they put something special in it to make it safe for use on our cars or use any certain kind of clay.
