• Blacking out headlights?

Ok, if somone one has already posted something about this topic I'm sorry.

I have heard about people taking off their stock headlight covers and painting them black. Has anyone done this or am I just hearing things again? If someone has I would like to know how it turned out, and how they did it. Pictures would be very nice also.

For that smoked look, I'm sure you can use some RIT fabric dye and dye them smoked. You wouldnt be able to get them completly blacked, but it would probally do for a quick fix.

1) why would you paint clear headlight covers black, when
2) they sell smoked covers for all exterior lights...

i have blackouts on my taillights. go to autozone or check out places like afterthoughts auto, rksport, ftpp, etc.

The reason I asked is because my headlight covers have a "film" on it, my covers arent clear anymore. I guess I should just buy new headlights, because mine look like crap. :( I do like the heritage ls1 headlights. If anyone has any other suggestions that would be nice also.

Everyone tells me that wet sanding them will work. When I got the film on my headlights, I replaced them with halos . The end result was worth it, because the halos were only about 150 bucks total.

If the film is on the outside you can wetsand your headlights with some 1500grit sandpaper(can find at autozone) then it will be really dull. So you buy some 3M rubbing compound(also at autozone) and work in on the headlights just like you would a paint cleaner. You will have to repeat the rubbing compound 4 or 5 times until it looks good.

IF the problem is in the inside of the lense, well then you probalby should just replace them or buy those halo things
