  • How to: Paint A/C Vents and Monsoon Frame

Just curious on how to do this... as far as pulling out the A/C vents from the car, and the monsoon frame to paint it. As far as I know these are the steps:

    1. Pull out pieces *someone please tell me how to do this.
    2. Use fine sand paper, sand down the pieces that you want.
    3. Prime all the surfaces
    4. Paint all the surfaces, making sure not to get them oily with your fingers... also taking off all the liquids you might have on it already, armorall and whatnot.
    5. Apply a clear coat
    6. Put them back in.

How long should I wait for all that stuff to dry?
How do I pull out pieces?
    What type of paint?

Here's what i'm doing... i've completed one piece as a test, currently doing the rest.

Remove pieces...(just pulling most of them off on my 97 Camaro, but some are tricky with screws like door pieces, console and piece around instrument cluster).

      Sand lightly.
2 coats primer, lightly sand any bumps.
      3 coats paint.
      3 coats clear coat.

      Looks mint!

      Good luck...

on my camaro, all i had to do was pull out to get em off. id guess the same way with yours. they are held on by simple clips, so just pull off and theyll come out easy. when i had mine out, i just sanded, primered 2 times, painted 2 times, and cleared 3 times. i let em dry, but it wasnt long enough, so when you do em, wait a while... say about 2 1/2- 3 hours before you put em back in. its a very easy mod to do, just be sure to get ALL the surface area. i know someone who did it after i did on his cavalier, and you can see where he didnt take the time to check to see if he painted the whole area. around the edges its still a little gray from the primer he used. put just pull the frame and vents and they should just pop out.

All you need to pull the frame around the radio and vent control is a screwdriver and then pry out the frame, the plate that goes around the window and power door lock switches is the same way. However I don't know how to pull the vents.
