Well I have a 2002 W68 Y87 and am thinking about getting a WS6 hood for it. They have them for $695.00 at www.suncoastcreations.com. and I was wondering what you guys think? Is there anywhere I could get it cheaper? And those of you that have one. How much was it total? for painting and stuff.
Thanks
Rob

Those are probably one of the cheapest except for VFN which might have them cheaper and better look alike of the WS6 hood. Suncoast Creations WS6 style hood is a far cry from being an actual WS6 hood, I think your best bet would be to hold out for the real WS6 hood.
I got mine for $550 was lightly damaged in the front but was repaired well and looks today (got it over 2 years ago), I got it painted and that probably cost about $100 at most but I can't remember cost for the paint, since I had my uncle paint it for me.

i got my ws6 hood from vfn but they suck. i wouldnt do it if i was you. anyhow you can check pix in my sig. it took 10 weeks to get it and i was told 4-6 weeks max. i didnt get it painted yet but i've been told, $200/250 for paint. it also had a couple of bumps on the hood so i had them give me some of my money back. PITA

Got my GM WS6 hood for $500 painted and installed. Goes to show you that knowing people in body shops does help.
BTW the hood came off of a '01 WS6 that was wrecked.

I've been more partial to the Raptor hoods... They make the car look a little more stealth... enough to take a TA by surprise. Maybe not..
If you look around, I know I've found the suncoast hoods being resold through other companies for $100 less.

id say get one from here, www.fiberglass-hoods.com ,thats where i got mine from and it was exceptional quality, it bolted right up and fit almost perfectly, they also have good customer service...
The problem with a lot of the cheaper hoods (ie. $350) is the fact that they are NON FUNCTIONAL. If I am spending money on a fiberglass hood I personally want to make sure it is doing more for my car than just lightening it by 30 odd pounds...
You have to get the functional hoods so that you can reap all the benefits possible.
Hey Wickedsix, can you use an open airbox with your hood?

my hood just has holes cut in the back of the part that the hood latch bolts to, for it to be very good you would have to make some sort of scoop and possibly cut the holes bigger so you can get more air into the air box....the FTRA is definately a better deal to use...
