I bought chrome wheels a month ago. I washing my wheels when i seen a small gold spot on one wheel. It has been 2 weeks and the spot got bigger ( size of a dime). Its not pitting but I don't know whats happening. I have been keeping my wheels in excellent shape. Is it from the road salt and the other **** they put down on the roads?

yeah its probably from the salt, it runins everything on cars. If i were you i wouldnt be driving in the snow and salt on new chrome rims your just asking for peoblems. Alot of my friends with rims take them off in the winter for this reason. You might what to think about it. Im not sure what you can do now though.1993 Camaro 3.4L M5
WW F-1 GFX, WW 3-pc Spoiler, Moroso CAI, Ripper, 3\" Pacesetter Cat-Back, EGR SunGuard, Taillight Blackouts, Clear Corners, Custom Painted 3rd Brake Light & Sidemarkers,
CarDomain site WebShots Yahoo Web Site

IT IS THE SALT. Everyone i know w/ chrome wheels kept their factory wheels as well to use in the winter. Hate to say it, but the finish is shot where you can see gold.

yep its the salt, i got highly polished rims just so I can drive my car during the rainy winters with the rims on, (polished rims get dirty and can be cleaned back to original state using rim cleaners).. my highly polished rims look exactly like chrome when they are clean, and many ppl (typical ppl) think its chrome

I coated my rims with ClearCoat this past summer. That helped protect them from Salt and other harmful crap on the road.
It also helps to have a beater car (FORD) instead of your f-bod. I use a 1990 Dodge Omni for driving in snow. Put the f-bod in a garage or use a good quality car cover, and wait until a nice dry day to take it out of hibernation. I'm running out of room in my 4 car garage, so I'll be sleeping outside soon just to keep my cars in nice shape...j/k
