Protecting black plastic on outside of car?

What does everyone use to keep your black plastic looking good on the outside of the car, for example around the windshield wipers and the vents? I was going to use something like Armorol, but I'm afraid it might make the black fade over time.

not sure who makes it but there is a product called back to black...ive never used it but alot of other ppl say it works good

it's made by mother's. i've heard good about it too but i've yet to use it. i want to use it on the black plastic on the outside of my car. it's getting pretty faded. i checked it out at autozone one day and i think i'm gonna go pick some up whenever i'm around there again. search on google and you can read a few reviews on it. all of them that i saw gave it five stars out of five.

Do you have a problem with it collecting dirt? </font>[/QUOTE]well to a degree, once its on there for about a week I wipe it with a dry cloth..after about a week its "soaked" in about as much as its going too...after that just a nice black shine....and with back to black....that stuff works miracles...ever wax your car by your windshield wipers..y'know on your hood, and go a little to far, then forget to wipe it off and you think its permanently white....well that stuff took care of it for me....it doesnt make it a perfect black, but it gets rid of any "crap" on your plastic...after I use that then I do the silicon treatment....some good ole' black magic works great for me....I might put it on once every 2 months and it hold up great

I put black magic there, works great. But yea what Nikon does will work good too.

isnt that painted???....try wetsanding, maybee 1200 grit, then polishing it out

paint polish, works on smooth plastic very well, like the black triangle next to the door window, headlamps, taillights, etc....and for the texture plastic, silicone spray works pretty good. I oversprayed my weatherstrip and got it on the plastic sill panel and it cleaned it up very NICE, same goes for the cowl.

Speaking of tricks to remove the wax from black plastic trim on your car, you can also use aerosol window cleaner (I use Invisiglass from Stoner) and a stiff plastic bristle detail brush. Spray on the window cleaner, brush it in and wipe off. Got this trick from a local detail shop and it actually works.
