• Calling all aftermarket hood owners!

I have a question about the 98-02 hood from fiberglassfabricatorsinc.com

They have a WS-6 hood for only $350.00!!!

I am definitely going to get it, if the qualtiy is good.

So here is my questions.
1. Has anyone heard or have first hand experience with this company?
2. If the hood is junk I NEED to know!
3. Is the quality of the fiberglass strong and well made?
4. Basically is it a good product?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

most of the time you get what you pay for. 350 seems a little to cheap for a well made, and good fitting product. i might be wrong though :D

I have a z-roc hood from Fiberglass fabricators....you also have to figure in the 100 to 150 dollar freighting charge, and yes, I love my hood. It's strong, looks great, and gets tons of glances when I'm driving. They are light also. Honestly, all I can say is "BUY IT".

Thanks for the input camaro bob. Yeah, I figure it'll cost about $850-$900 to get it painted and installed. I also want my flip-up headlights re-painted (got some rock chips) :( , so I bet the whole thing will run me about $900.

I figure $500 to get it to my door (truck freight is expensive), then another $400 for the paint. I got quoted $300 for paint and install of the hood only, so I wonder how much it would cost to throw in the headlights. Maybe $200 more, but well worth it.

One more question, was there a lot of prep work that had to be done to the hood? Prep labor would raise the cost of the paint job, negating the price of the hood compared to the competition.

Man, and I was going to pay about $700 for a hood before shipping and paint. I feel like I am getting a good deal!

from what i understand by knowing people at the chevy dealership body shop they say the only hood that fits decent and lines up well for our cars is from SLP. i have the Ram Air HO and it is perfect. but its a little more then 350.

what color is your car???
when i got my hood painted, they had to blend the surrounding areas in, it was 490 for all that, should be more to repaint them. oh yeah, my cars pewter

when i got my ss hood from jeg's it took my body shop 7 hrs. labor to sand, trim, and paint it. it looks great though. the one you are looking at isn't a functional ram air hood. my harwood hood was 424.99 and 89.00 truck freight. but it is functional.

My car color is Red. I shouldn't have to have more painted because I got rear-ended last year and they had to replace my rear and front bumper covers (the front because I tapped someone in front of me and I made them replace it because it was scratched).

They already did some blending. I am very satisfied with the job they did, plus there is a lifetime warranty on their paint and labor. I talked to them and they gave me the quote knowing my car pretty well already. :D

Oh yeah, I am not worried about it being functional. I don't think that you get that much out of functional ram air, well at least not compared to nitrous! ;)

I am primarily concerned about the agressive look. There are MANY other ways to modify the air intake.

My fiberglass fabricators hood lines up perfectly, it was easy to install, and it came gel coated and ready to paint. It didn't take the shop long at all to paint it. When they paint the hood, they won't blend the surrounding panels to match the hood, they will blend the hood to match the surrounding panels. Shouldn't be much prep.
