• Mr Coffee's front caliper pics....

Here's a pic of the front calipers I finished up this morning for Josh. I think they turned out well. He hopefully will post pics of them on the car. I'm anxious to see how they look on.

that looks awesome. pewtwer2k, can you tell me how to paint calipers. i've been researching, and i have the general idea of smoothing the caliper and bracket with some sand paper then painting with high temp paint in very thin layers. but i used your "how to" on removing the bird from the back panel and it was great, so i was hoping you could email me how to do this. brian@clemson.edu

yep, you guys should see them on the car. Blue matches perfectly! I sent her some pics of the calipers on the rotor, but they're dark and I'm no photographer. I still have to bleed the lines so it'll be Sun or Mon before I can post pics of the finished install.

Conclution.. 4 Calipers/brackets that look awsome!

I got those decals a few months ago. That is a good idea though. I'll keep that in mind.

Michelle, can I marry you please? Would you also do my calipers or tell me how you did that? I'm desperate here, those are the best looking calipers I've ever seen.

Well I can basically tell you all here what I did.
I cleaned the calipers/brackets with Simple Green and a toothbrush type brush that was here. I cleaned them several times with simple green and warm water. I let them dry for an hour or so then used a wire brush attachment on the dremel to remove all the rust. I also sanded off the mold line on the calipers especially for the fronts so the decals will lay flat. I used some finer sandpaper over that part to smooth it a bit then wiped the calipers/brackets down with a towel. Then I started painting.

If you're doing these on the car wrap the rotor/drum with a plastic bag going under the bracket and secure with some tape. Then tape some newspaper inside the wheel well and over the fenders. Also you'll want to tape off the brake pad with some masking tape and trim any excess with an exacto knife. Now the key is to LIGHTLY spray the caliper/bracket. Apply light coats. If you get some fisheye which does happen...where the paint appears to not stick in little circles dont worry. What I have noticed is let that dry and then lightly spray about 12-14" away the next time on that spot. This seems to make the paint stick..dont ask me why...just does.

Then apply decals if you have them and spray with a couple coats of clear. I also sprayed them with clear if they werent giving them a decal. It just gives the paint a better seal against damage..just like the car has a clear coat

That's it

Thats what she posted before. I will save you the trouble looking for it. There it is!!

all I did was give them to Michelle.

I was replacing the rotors, pads, and fluid so it was ther perfect time.

I had the decals and I gave them to her with the from pair.

Everything's together I just have to bleed the brakes, and then I'll send pics to Michelle.

I figure I get them painted every year right before summer
