• 3157 White LED's .. anybody have em?

There are 2 places I found on the web
    1)http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-b...gi?product=CAR ... like $7 / bulb
    and 2) http://www.showtimeautotrix.com/305657led.html ... $20 / bulb

The first doesn't have any contact info ... suspicious ... but much cheaper than the 2nd

Now, has anybody had any problems with these? I don't like the ambers on the front and I have had major problems with APC super whites.

    Thanks

No reply from place No. 2. There has got to be some place that wants business and is reputable.

LED's draw less current, so your car thinks the bulb is dead and no longer cares about it.

huh...so thats why they dont blink....what kind of device draws more current??...a capacitor or something??

EDIT: well for that matter why cant we make the car not care if the bulbs are there are not...I know its the way to tell you that your bulbs are burnt out...yet still...

              Directly from Superbrightleds.com website...
quote:
LED brake/tail lamps may not work with some thermal flasher units due to their extremely low current draw. These installations will require an electronic flasher unit available at your auto parts store.

LED bulbs may cause some newer vehicles to indicate a bulb is burnt out (because of their low power consumption). Some cars indicate this by increasing the flash rate of the turn signals, some do not flash at all. We know of no cure for this at this time.

I've done business with superbrightleds.com twice and will continue to do so for my super bright LED needs! ;)

I got mine from Autozone they are APC. I don't have any kind of problem with them. They are extrememly bright. I think someone sells the 3157 white leds on E-bay.

I don't think you want a capacitor. I know in my car, when a bulb blows out, the entire circuit quits. Good safety feature!! I believe the battery supplies a constant voltage since the potential within the battery is constant and V=IR. The low current would have to be due to a higher resistance in the LED. I have to talk with some of the electrical guys to see if it can be modified to work.

Would you like to know how it can be done? Okay, I'll tell you.

It's actually VERY VERY VERY easy!!!!

All you have to do is put a resistor parallel to the supply.

I don't know what the factory wattage is...anyone know that? Simply use ohm's law to find the resistance.

Make sure you use a high rating resistor to fit the wattage. Overrate the resistor too, since voltages fluctuate.
