ok dont flame me alive for this im not possing

i though it would be cool to have a shift boot on an automatic instead of the poll and the gay looking slider things.

so i was wondering if it would work to take the center console out of a manual and fit it to the automatic. probably geta different shift nob. but anyway there it is i said it.

Ok first off you have an auto right. the shift boot for the Manual is farther ahdead. The ash tray is more to the back on manual. in the auto they are in front of the shifter. at least on the camaro's they are. I think, i don't know for sure. i would think if that's the caseit wouldn't shift into 2 or 1 if you wanted to. Don't get mad if i'm wrong i just noticed it on a freinds bird. if you want to find out i hae the part numbers :( many different numbers which is weird) :D

Manual 97-98: 10271365
'99, 5 speed: 10297906
'00, 5 speed: 10413130
Auto 97-99 : 10297909
'00, auto: 10413138
*FOR THE OLDER CARS*
It won't work. I was right. looking at the pics on the 93-96 Firebirds it won't fit. But those are ALL the numbers for the newer one's. my dad works for a GM dealer so we hae a parts book at Home. Hope that helps man ;)

So you want your automatic to look like a stick? Why is that?

ok lets answer a few questions. first off. i dont want to make an auot look like a manual thats retarded i want to make an automatic have a shift boot, instead of that gay little pole and slider thing.

second i have taken into account the fact that i might lose the use of 1st and possibley second gear but counting the number of times i have actually had to use second or first gear is very small so i think it could work. yes it doesnt look like it would work but i think the only thing i would lose is first. i think this is doable and i want to see what it would look like, but i knew i would probably get flamed for it. i hope i answered peoples questins and thanks for the part numbers as well.

i did a search but all that came up was some link to ls1.com that didnt work about someone making a shift boot to go with the automatic console or something like that or maybe it was some set up that is sold but either way i could get it to work, so im gonna switch the entire console and see what i can do.

I remember, the guy that had one, made it out of a Yukon's auto shift boot, or something like that. He took it straight from one car and put it in his withough too much trouble.
