  • Calling MTMike!!!!!!

I've decided to go ahead and cut the roof off of the bird when I get it out in the spring. I've talked to the guys at Speed Automotive about the kit ($400). I'm in Canada. They don't ship here. I wouldn't have too many problems getting it if they were shipped to Detroit or something, but I was looking for an easier way. If you could gimme a list off ALL the parts need for the conversion, I could go to the wreckers over the next month or so and gather them up. I've lived with a coupe for TOO LONG and it's time for the top to come off!!
If you can help me on this I would appreciate it sooooo much!!!

    Thanks,
    Andrew

    What you will need:

    -The tops themselves (DUH)
-The 'rail' in the center that holds the tops down.
-The weather stripping gasket for both sides.... each one is one piece so you'll have to put it in all around the door frame.
-The mounting brackets for all 4 corners.
-The copperish colored weatherstripping 'guide' that runs down the A pillar.
    -The headliner
-The Plastic A-pillar trim for both sides.
-The plastic rear 'cup' trim for both sides
-The rubber/plastic trim that goes around the top 3 sides of the Windshield
    -The shades if they're available
-The storage racks for the trunk

I think that's everything..... Best of luck to you!!!!

    -Mike

Hey thanks Mike, in your honest opinion should I gather the parts, or just get the guys in TN to do it and get them shipped? It seems like a l;ot of small parts that my be difficult to get off the car and find in good condition.

      -thanks for the previous info!!!!

If I would have had access to a parts car I much rather would have done it then dealing with mail-order. He forgot to send me some of the parts, and refused to send me others (like the headliner, which is understandable) but also the copper weather stripping trim and the windsheild trim. IMO You'd be better off harvesting a donor car. It'd also give you a better idea of how to do it in your seeing how everything came off the other one.

all they are is cheap flimsy plastic shades with coloring like your interior so the sun doesn't beat through t-tops. I only use mine on long trips, and I got them from a friend of mine off the board. He gave them to me and I just sent him $ for shipping. You rock, Eric! :D

Anywyas thats all the shades are really good for. It makes it feel like a hardtop from the inside with them in.
