• Please help me fix the glare in my windshield!

I have a 2001 camaro and my dash glares up into my windshield and blocks my line of vision. I can hardly see to drive!! Does anyone else have this problem?? Can someone please help me fix this before I go crazy??!! I have t-tops, but the covers are on, so I know it's not reflecting or anything. Please help :(
Thanks for your help!! Oh, and please let me know if I posted this in the wrong place. I'm a rookie!! ;)

Hey dude-

I'm only 17, and I don't consider myself to know a whole lot about car issues, but I seem to have this problem the most during the summer in sunlight when I use a very high shine dash cleaner (like Armor-All Ultra Shine).

I love how it shines the interior of my car, it's the best product I've used so far, but gives me horrible dash glare.

I don't think there's a whole lot to do to change this, because the way the Firebird/Camaro window slants, I think it gives a pretty good access to glare.

Depending on your polish, you may want to consider changing if it's that big of a problem. I kinda just learned to cope with it.

Thanks for your help. Someone else just told me to clean the inside of the windshield really well and then switch to low-gloss armor-all just on the dash. You may want to try it, too. He said it works really well for him. I'm going to try it this evening, because I can't see through it. I drive like **** anyway, so I need to make it as easy as possible for myself! Oh, by the way, I'm a girl Thanks again!!

I also think it depends on how sensitive your eyes may be to light.

I am extremely sensitive to light and sounds, but I manage to cope with the glare.

Besides, having a shiny dash and interior makes a car look 5x better .

Do you have leather? if you use armour all the sun might be heating it up into a gaseous form and then it rises and sticks to the windshield, couple that with dusty conditions and it acts as an adhesive... leather interior can also give off a fume that coats windows.... i just cleaned mine last night, much better this morning, its just the fumes... either no more armoral or deal with the junk... i believe that low gloss armor all will still cause fumes, its the sun heating up the stuff all over your dash... i just recently put armorall all over the top of the dash all the way to where it meets the glass and i had terrible glare, now i have realised... lol good luck

Just clean the dash with soapy water, that will give
you a no glare clean shiney dash.

If you have to use armor all or ANY kind of plastic protectant with shine, just wipe it with a damp cloth after you let it sit for a bit and it will reduce the shine. Next time u use armor all, don't put too much on the towel either, I put very little and it creates a low sheen in the interior, if I did too much, I just wipe it with a damp towel.

Here's how you fix that problem, get a really dark pair of sunglasses. I like Oakleys.

I can't do without Armor-All, it shines the interior too well. :D

I've heard the same, but I've never had any problems with it so far...

I can't see how any other product would be better then, they all contain practically the same ingredients.

yeah, but then you cant park in the sun too often, or you should expect a cracked dash sometime soon.

thanks everyone! i don't have leather in this camaro. my SS did though and i didn't really notice any difference. it all sucks! i got really mad this weekend because i couldn't see at all, so i threw a shirt up there (girls keep crap like that in their back seats! ;) ) and it made a huge difference!!! i wouldn't even think of leaving a shirt in my dash, but it was great for the time being. someone should invent one of those carpety little cover things that isn't TACKY!! i don't think that's possible though. oh, about the soapy water cleaning, do you think that dries the dash out? i use one of those screens when i park it, but i don't want to mess up the dash. and i have some REALLY dark glasses, but i still see the dang glare!! i think it's something i will have to live with.

Really dark glasses aren't what you need...you need polarized sunglasses.

Why exactly did you feel the need to start the same topic in 2 different forums within 3 minutes of each other and keep replying the same thing to both.
