Shame on the lot O' U ! The dude even says they're "Crapy Pictures", right on his post. How 'bout appluadin' someone's actual "creativity", instead O' jus' flippin' the page in your catalogs, or bringin' up a page, so U can pay 2 much $$$ 4 somethin' it probably cost somebody (company, etc.) $5 or so 2 make...NOW, who feels like soggy corn flakes? I think w/ some more "proper execution" this'd B one O' the "cooler" interior mods...is it "functional"? Not everyone is a retiree or lives off their mother.

Ummm, because I also had the same "creativity" 2 years ago as a college student on my own budget. I adapted a Camaro shift knob and manual shift boot onto my Ford Contour. I'm sure I wasn't the first person that thought about doing that type of mod, but I certainly didn't have other peoples' ideas to copy from. I didn't flip through a catalog to find my parts either with a credit card in hand... I simply found components on other cars that I liked and searched for them in a salvage yard. I've always liked the automatic shift knob on the Camaro... better than the T-handle that came with mine.
I am a salvage yard junkie so the price invested in parts doesn't impress me. It is how much creativity was involved to get the job done and make it look like it belongs. I can give props to the idea of a shift boot in the console instead of that plain looking plastic plate, but to simply stuff the boot in there as if it were a sock looks to me as if the whole idea was not only to get it done cheap but as fast as possible.
I could also admire these as prototype pictures. But that is the only price I would pay for it, because I don't know how much other "finishing" was done to make it worth the 225. If I would have sold my old Contour setup before I sold the car, I would have asked 50 bucks and that would have fetched me a generous profit.
To make the same setup as what I see in the pictures, I would simply have to rip (and yes, I mean rip) the shift boot out of a Camaro and take the knob from it as well. Those are the only parts I see and the knob doesn't necessarily have to fit perfectly... all it has to do is press the plastic rod in the shifter down and lay on top otherwise. From a pick-n-pull these parts are probably no more than 25 bucks. So tell me where the other 200 is justified.

BTW, I do have a picture of my old setup for those who may be interested.
