ive seen some auto people with shift boots, and i thought that this auto setup looked damn like a manual setup and some of you might want to copy the idea (not my thing, but i thought some of ya'll might like it... just helpin out the team ;) )
IT would be cool if you kept like the factory knob on it. I coudl see auto people wanting to a shift boot, but the "fake stick" think is kinda lame.

If done properly, they look good. I put a shift boot on my old automatic and replaced the T-Handle shift knob with a Camaro automatic shift knob. I never pretended to have a manual but the leather boot and less obtrusive shift knob looked better to me than a cheap plastic plate with a stick coming out of it. The car I did this on was a placeholder for the vehicle I actually wanted, which is a 99 Camaro with an M5. So yes, I do know how to drive a stick.
What I don't like about this setup from the pictures I saw is that the boot is just crammed into the console... there is nothing trimming it out and it looks more rigged and out of place than anything.
As far as the car looking like a manual, there's still that lack of a third pedal on the floor and the "Depress brake to shift from park" plate on the console which would tell any idiot that the car is not a standard.
seriously though, that's a terrible hack job he did on his console. He needs something to cover up the jagged edges around the shifter boot. The interior looks trashy too.

Or better (and cheaper) a shift boot for your auto.
