well as you know in some states it is required to have a front liscense plate(illinois), but the fill in piece looks ten times better. so in math class today I was thinkin if you have a black firebird and put one of those clear fill ins on(there is a website somewhere that has them, but they dont look that great plain) and put a coat or 2 of that nightshades stuff on it?? good idea?? i don't know hat this would look like, just an idea. you could maybe even throw a couple of lights in there. what do you guys think? has someone already done this?

hm... niteshades over it, with a couple lights inside, hooked up to maybe your foglights or headlights. sounds pretty sweet. try it out, do a write-up, and pioneer the next best thing for those who have to have a front plate.
yea I always get pulled over for anything i do wrong with my front licenses plate. Cops have nothing better to do around here. At least they are cool though and never fine me. I was warned 3 times by the same cop over the summer and the last time he made me take him to my house and told my dad if i dont pout it on I will get all of those fines the next time he sees me. I slightly modded it to work with my license plate cover if you check ou my cardomain but i'm sure this is illegal too. When it's spring again I'm gonna try and get away with it again cause i think it looks soo good without the plate.
very very nice ride garret. hopefully I will be able to find a black w68 this spring. love the white bird on the front looks good, liscence plate mod looks pretty good too. do you have a pic of the rear of the car, I want to see what the exhaust tips look like? I'm not sure if i like the just straight back angled tips(I think the dual, dual outlets look better, but who knows) anyways wish I had a bird to try this on, b/c I would in a second! hurry up spring!!

I just had this problem last weekend so now I'm buying the clear license cover you're talking about. I'm not sure if tinting it with nightshades would be illegal or not, they have to be able to read it supposedly. I can't imagine any additional lights looking good on the front of a Firebird though, the back license plate light is ghetto enough!

you know that you want to try this mod? and ya I agree with you that it would be hard to make lights on the front liscense plate look good. post a pic if you get the clear cover.
P.S. your car is my idol, hopefully one day I will have a w68 that looks like that.

Anything that obstructs the plate is illegal. Covers of ANY kind, frames that cover any writing on the plate (ie. the state name), ect. I failed inspection once in my 82' Z28 because I had a clear license plate cover on. I've been pulled over in my 96' because I have a clear purple cover over the rear plate. Several of my high school students have been pulled over for having license plate frames. It's like having a "free" reason to get pulled over. .. oh well.
That sucks, I've never been pulled over for not having my plate, but when I do get pulled over for something else they always check.
max5 My car looks a little different now than it does in those pics. I have better looking tips, no wheel center cap decals, and now no front license plate filler. I'm getting the clear cover anyways, I might try to tint it lightly so it's not perfectly clear. I'll take pics for sure though.

yeah definately post some pictures. I'm anxious to see what it would look like. I don't have any experience with niteshades, does it look black or like a brown color when you apply it?

It's black, semi-glossy, but I've noticed mine has faded over time and more light shines through now than it did at first. I'm gonna try to get most of it off and do the 95% limo tint and see how that looks. I won't put 95% on the front plate of course, probably more like 20% just enough to make it smokey.
