i like the red..but on my car it sa bit darker..not so bright..and matches the red on the exterior..for your car..id say go pewter

im not sure about the Firebird..but in my Camaro if you go in the center console and pull the change holder out..the 2 screws that hold in the cup holder/console are hidden under there..the shift knob had a small metal staple-type piece in the front side that held it on..but be careful..it is tough to remove without damaging the leather..id just replace it with a silver shift knob

good call. I painted my interior silver, couldn't be happier. Just make sure you sandpaper everything and use a good adhesion promoter, or you'll have some problems with the paint sticking.

So I started painting today. I got both the doors painted just like the pic above. I'm going to do the cup holder area on Tuesday, my next day off. Thanks 1DangerousV6 for the info on how to get that off! Still not sure how to take the vents out to paint them or the dash piece above the gauges, any info would be much appreciated!! BTW I used the Plasti Kote pewter and metallic clear coat and it looks great. Looks like it came from the factory!

Well I just finished painting my door panels and shifter area today. Pics are on my cardomain site. I still cant get the A/C vents out to paint them so any help with that would be appreciated. I'm waiting to do the area above the gauge cluster until I get my reverse glow gauges and chrome bezel in. Let me know what you guys think!!

Pics are on the 1st page.

I know this may be late, but be VERY patient with the vents!! Somebody told me to yank in the middle. Well out flew the vent pieces. Good thing my car was under warranty. It was $16+ for each vent if you break em.

This is hard to explain. If you take a very small flat head screwdriver and pry up one of the sides on the center rail while gently tugging at the middle the top piece should come off without the louvers flying everywhere. Inside will be the louvers that you can remove individually. Make a sketch of the order and position of the pieces. I would recommend do one first and once you get the hang of it, do all of them. Be careful how thick you spray because they could still be functional vent with about 3 coats of paint. If you want, email if you have more questions.

Thanks for all the help guys! I finished all of the interior that I think I'm going to do. Instead of a screwdriver I used a butter knife though haha. Still unsure about the piece above the gauges but I did the vents, door panels, and center console area. I really love it. Thanks for the inspiration Bad Bird! It does look just like yours. Finished pics are on the first page of my cardomain by the way.
