ok i have a thought that was spawned by a member of our board doing some center console work. so here is my thought i think its the vettes that do this but the put the window switches in the the center console but if i do this i dont want the factory switches so what i am asking is if someone could direct me to a place where i could find some better switches i guess is what im asking the wiring aspect of this isnt that complicated and for the most part i probably want have to add any wires either just move the existing ones. so if someone has some ideas on this that would be great

I had a 1986 Trans Am that had the window switches on the center console, and I liked it ALOT better than on the doors. If you are looking to buy the window switches for the console, look into a 3rd gen book or website.
Definately not a bad idea! :D

I like that idea. I think it'd be cool to see. What would you do about the switches in the doors already (assuming you already have power windows/locks)?

I know I got a switch panel from slow (member of this messageboard) that goes in the place beside the cigarette lighter in front of the shifter. I personally like it and everyone notices it when they get in the car. I can't remember his website address now, but you may want to look into those.

I saw a mod writeup once somewhere (can't remember where now) that said how to put the start button from a S2000 where the cigarette lighter socket is in the center console. If you put the switches for the windows there, maybe look into that too (of course, you might accidentially hit the button while driving, and I can't imagine that'd be good, so that acually may not be a good idea).

One suggestion you may or may not have though of - whatever kind of switches you get, you may want to see about either getting lighted ones or have a small light (maybe a LED) shine onto them so you can see them in the dark.

like i said im looking for something that would lite up, and i have the facroy plate that you are talking about that has the tcs button but i dont have a tcs button so i fabbed a garage door opener in there which was nice but know i moved and i cant reprogram it so it is useless and i already have push button ignition it is in the same plate and that is very cool. my thoughts were maybe getting rid of the cup holder and fabing up the switches there. and as far as the plates on the doors i would eitehr fiber glass over them or jsut buy the factory ones for a car whitout power locks and windows. i just wish i could find some cool rocker switches to do this and i would get started over christmas
