• removing side camaro logo

Take a blowdryer to them. They are stuck on there with a double sided tape that is a bit tricky to un-do. Heat will loosen up the glue to make them remove easier.
Use it on hot, pointing it at the decal for about 1-2 minutes. Get something to pry the decal up. A screwdriver will work, but you must be extremely careful not to scratch or dent the body of the car. Put a piece of cloth behind the screwdriver to protect the finish.

try using dental floss or fishing line after you heat it up.

so then I can just scrap the old tape off and put on some of my own. That has to be tricky to do to get it form just around the letters. Ill give it a go and tell you how it turns out

The tape should come off with the decals. If it doesn't, it has to be scraped off with care!

I also like the dental floss/fishing line comment. I'll have to try it next time...

Fishing twine works wonders. GooGone, rubbing alcohol, or a plastic guitar pick works great for removing things stuck to the car. Here's how I did the side moldings on my last car (not an F-Body so I can't provide specifics for removing side moldings but anything glued to body of the car can utilize this method):

1. Take the fishing twine and with a gentle sawing motion work it between the two parts. Don't worry about getting all the tape off.... all you want for right now is the plastic piece that you want to take off. Expect the fishing twine to snap a few times, but that's why it comes in a roll.

2. Using either Goo Gone or denatured alcohol and your thumb wrapped in a t-shirt, gently scrub the tape residue off the panel. It may be a good idea once all the residue is off to wash the panel and wax that area.

To be honest for the size of the job I did the t-shirt and GooGone method worked great. It left no scratches whatsoever. Guitar picks are good for smaller areas, such as your emblem but make sure to use something like Goo Gone or denatured alcohol to help dissolve the residual tape/glue. Always Always ALWAYS test the solvent in a small hidden area to make sure that it doesn't eat at your paint. The two aforementioned products did nothing to my paint at all, but I make no guarantees to your specific vehicle so try it out first.

As far as the guitar pick method goes be careful. I usually only use it for dealer stickers or other things that fishing twine cannot work between. It works well because it is not only thin, but also flexible which helps prevent it from digging into paint. If it is an actual emblem I avoid scraping at all costs. Be patient and the results will be good. If you do feel the need to scrape, never never NEVER use anything metal (or anything else rigid) like a screwdriver or kiss your paint goodbye.
