oil is not a good idea....
there was a thread a few months ago about this and over time, it does some nasty stuff to your tires
namely dryrought and decreased life and sidewall strength
stick to the tire shine products
how can oil dryrought your tires and make the sidewalls weaker?

    pull up the thread please

im not sure of the truth behind this but IMO, it is worth it to just use a tire shine product design for use on tires.

I use Advanced Auto Parts generic tire shine in the spray can. Good stuff, cheap, lasts long and has a good shine that isn't too slick and doesn't spray on the car.

interesting, well if you don't like oil I'v also used dot 3 break fluid to clean my tires as well but I still stand by the oil it keep em clean and shiny for a long time. Until I notice something being messed up by using oil to clean my tires then I'll stop but until then its simple penzoil 10W-30 for me for my tire cleaner for me.
