what is good to use to fix this and also stop the rust so it doesnt come back

Paint them or keep moisture off of them.....those are the only way i kno96\' Camaro RS<br />Stock -
Paint a rotor? That wouldn't last any time at all. THe paint would be gone by the time you got out of your driveway. You sure you aren't thinking of calipers?
Anywho, how to keep the rotors from rusting: drive it more often; drive around water puddles; get new ones and forget they were ever rusted.

For as long as I can remember thats just what rotors do, it's normal. I bought brand new rotors and it still does it. As soon as you drive again it's gone so I wouldn't even worry about it.Comment

I think he meant to paint the hat and the vented section. Not the surface where the brake pads touch. I painted the vented section and the hat on my 2000 Camaro's rotors and it at least held the rust and still looked pretty good 10,000 miles later.
The rust you see where the calipers go comes from rain/water hitting them. Once you drive a short distance, it all comes off.
New ones will look good for a short time but then start rusting again (unless you get expensive coated aftermarket replacements such as Baer Eradispeeds).
