• New Stripes

My Camaro has 2 black stripes, and as the car is going on it's 10th year out of the factory the stripes are getting a little worn. where can i get new ones? i dont just want to spraypaint or paint them myself. should i take it to a detail shop or are there stickers that i can put on?

also, i was wondering if it is illegal to have no front plates, my dad thinks it is but ive seen plenty of people without em.

thanks guys!!!! -mike

#1: i've never seen stripes like those for sale anywhere... (checked your cardomain), so maybe take it to a detail shop and have them take those stripes off and repaint them? or maybe you could put these over them:

or, if you're set on having black stripes...

#2: is your car a 3.4 or 3.8?

Quarter Mile: 15 s @ 95 mph->
0-60: 5 s
Est. Horsepower: 220
Weight: 4000

if you have a 3.8, having just exhaust isn't going to cut over 2 seconds off your 0-60, give you 20hp without any supporting mods, or make your car weigh 4000 pounds. i think my dad's lifted blazer weighs that much lol. stock, it's just over 3000. ;)
and if you have a 3.4, those numbers are even more off. just thought i'd help you out.

"i guessed on all the proformance stuff... i havent really took it to the track or anything. its probably worse than that anyways."

my car is a 3800. i was just guessing, I made that cardomain page 3 days before i even bought the car. ill reguess:

0-60 6.5 sec
1/4mile: 15 @ 96.3446435673
HP: 200(stock)+20(flowmasters)=220 (at the crank i suppose)
weight: 4100

dont forget!!! "SPL: 700" its true i swear. i have 90 15" subs in my car. anyone within a 30 foot radius is permanently deaf and then dies from loss of blood out of their ears. its the equivalent of 5 jet enngines in your face. It cost roughly $14,000 for the whole thing and it weighs roughly 1,000 pounds (hence the ,4100lb. curb weight). ill have pics up soon.

the guy i got it off didnt go into specifics on the exhaust. i know they are flowmasters, thats it. i want to know the size, series, etc. but i'll find out when i take it in to get headers. :-\

I can't answer about the stripes, but yes, front plates are required in CA. I've been pulled over for not having front plates on my Firebird so I had to put them on.

1+1 does not equal 2 in the horsepower world

hehehe, im glad someone realized im not trying to trick anyone with that cheezy photoshop. the angles arent even right. it took me a good hour to make.

"""1+1 does not equal 2 in the horsepower world
"""

what does that mean?

and finally, while that stripe website is a real help (thanks alot for that) i dont see the exact kind of stripes i have. i guess i can just plaster a newer, cooler set on. thanks for the help guys!

Basically, 200 hp base + advertised gains of 20 hp from exhaust != (not equal to, for those non-programers) 220 hp. It just doesn't work that way. It's lower. Always.

Always. </font>
It's all in the wording of the advertisement. Most of them will say something along the lines of "gains UP TO 20hp," which means that at the maximum amount of gain, you might see 20hp gains. Most of the time that would only happen if you've done every other possible mod to your car. That actual gains from changing only your exhaust would be somewhere around 2-3 hp, not a whole lot more, if that much at all. But anyways, the advertisers use that specific wording to make you think that you'll get 20hp from their exhaust.

I'd love to see a stock auto (3.08s even?) trap at 96 mph.

20 hp from a muffler?

4100 lb curb weight? The sticker on my door says the max gross weight is 4061 lbs.

If your car weighs 4000 lbs, you'll be lucky to see a 17 second ET.
