  • Hitting Ground....

Yeah, I've had my firebird for oh lets just say 1 month.. and every once in a while when I'm not paying too much attention in a parking lot I hear the dreaded scrap of my cars "sports appearance package" scraping on the ground... now its starting to "eat" away on the front.. and you can kinda see some scratches under it... 3 questions.. any real damage from this? and how do I get it off? should I just sand it smooth? And is there anything that can avoid this.. like oh say a protector or something... or do I just need to not be such a careless retard and treat a firebird like the piece of art that it is?

Well as good as the ground effects look they get scraped up very often. Its really hard to avoid doing so and every time you do it seems to just get worse.

Depending on the severity of the scratch you can buff it away but some will still be very noticeable. Most of the time you'll just scrape the bottom of the ground efects but if you arent careful you can end up scraping the front of it, cracking it,breaking it off, or just banging it so much that it'll gets loose and falls off, the last one is the least likely

Drive slow in parking lots, go over speedbumps at an angle. I've never scraped mine since I started doing this.

Raise your front end! J/K. I'd take the advice on driving slow and watching where you drive. I got tired or repainting my front end so I put a bra instead. Another paint Job=$200+ Bra=$80.. A black Bra looks decent on a black car though

Yeah I was thinking about putting a 5 inch lift on my car... hahahahaha.. j/k.. that'd be quite dumb. I saw a mustang with like a 3 inch lift.. what the heck was that guy thinking?

Put adjustable struts on the front so that you can manually raise the front when you get near a hole or a bump! The ricers do it!

I don't think that would be much help considering that the majority of times that people scrape it's unintentional. I personally go slow over speed bumps, when going down sharp curbs and such but I've still scraped plenty of times. Its usually just my air damn that scrapes however one time I did scrap the front end pretty bad. :( .

As for the car bra. I don't know of any bra manufacturer that makes a bra for Firebird with ground effects. When you scraped you would just tear up the bra and probably scrape anyways. That and IMO Black is the worse car to have a bra on. I have a bra but I don't keep it on for several reasons one being that I don't like how it looks on the car especially my car being black.

I know coil-overs can be adjusted, but not from the cockpit. You can adjust ride height with struts? Can they be adjusted from the cockpit?
