  • removing interior pieces

I've grown big enough balls 2 start pinting my interior. I have a 2001 firebird. I started w/ the rear speaker covers today. I hate that mesh stuff that's on the inside. The paint stuck to it and I had to sand it and the glue off. I was wondering how to take the power window/lock cover off, as well as the side pockets in the doors and the cover for the dook lock and handle. I worry about breaking anything. I noticed a screw holding the door handle panel and the pocket to the door. if I take these screws out, will they allow these pieces to pop out?

I am doing the same thing. The whole door panel comes off and not the seperate pieces unfotunately :( At least not the ones with clothe interior. Here's a small write up on how to remove the panels. http://www.carstereohelp.com/stereor...birdFDrPnl.htm

For some reason my panel is giving me alot of trouble then my console so make sure you do these things that I've discovered doing mine:

1.Sand the pieces down really well with 320-400 grit sandpaper.

2.Wipe them down with rubbing alcohol.

    3.Spray Duplicolor's Adhesion promoter

    Good luck doing yours.

    -Michelle

Sand the pieces very well with

Arctc...the door panels are the same on the birds from 98-current as far as I know.

This is the console I just did.

And as you can see on my passenger side door panel there in that pic...look to the lower right and you'll see it's scratched :( I didnt sand down the panels and did them while they were still on the door which wasnt easy and I wasnt happy with the results at all so that's why Im doing them again.
