• Vertical Door Conversion

Is there any way to convert a firebird door to a vertical door? So that it opens upward like a Diablo's door???

This has been discussed before, but on a camaro. The last I heard is that it can be done, but it costs around $3K total. I also remember hearing that it's a hassle to take care of because the hydraulics that move the door will wear down or break and the seals around the doors get worn down or don't match up.

I remember seeing a kit for a 3rd gen a while back. I don't remember exactly how much, but I want to say upwards of 5k. It would be really cool I'll admit, but that's alot of money. I saw a 4th gen with suicide doors once, not really my style but I gotta give him props on originality.

It can be done. I've seen kits online for 1600 bucks. And they ARE quality kits. I have never heard or seen anything near resembling the comment made about the hydro arms wearing out on them, or the rubber splitting and tearing. I'll try and find the webpage for it. Give me a little bit, i'll get it to ya. I'm actually gonna put either the lambo doors or the suicide doors on mine. ;)

Well to start there are two company's that I know that make vertical door conversion kits. The one that claims its a universal kit is from autoloc and is fully motorized. I highly doubt that by them saying its universal it will work on our fbody's. I think they are thinkin more of universal for honda, mitsu, and crap like that.

I'm in the process of making my own kit so we will see how it turns out. When I ihave it all done and pics I will post them. If anyone else gets it done make sure to email me pics cause I would love to see it
