I never go to the car washes where u have to drive through them. I simply dont trust them. I go to the ones where u wash it your self. Ive had friends go through those and come out with scratches in there cars.
My 87 Firebird used to pose special challenges in car washes because it had louvers. The first time I took it through one, the louvers nearly broke apart under the pressure from the high pressure air dryers at the end. From then on, I learned to high-tail it out of the car wash when the blowers got near the rear of the car.
I solemnly swear I am up to no good.

If I resort to a car wash I goto the high pressure water one. You know the one that has no brushes just high pressure water. The only problem is the t-tops leak if I don't max out the A/C. But the car looks clean everytime and doesn't scratch the paint.

My buddy works at a carwash place and I used to get free carwashes.
After several carwashes I noticed that it has been scratching my driverside of the car! But I couldn't do anything about it because it was free and I didn't want to get my friend in trouble.
I never went to an automated carwash after that.
Only reason i went to the car wash was it was a nice and living in chicago its still pretty cold and i washed it with my power washer but it didnt come clean and had spots so for $5 i got a car wash. It was the first and last time.

Im never going to take my car through the car wash. I will either wash it myself at my house or take it to the dealer that sold the car to me and they have a free car wash! Kinda nice!! :D
Yep, no car washes for me neither. My Garage, a Soft Brush, and a shammy is my car wash. There is some sort of satisfaction in having your car shiney and clean, and knowing you took the time to do it Same thing with working on them.
