• Painting the Intake Manifold

Not sure where to put this. I'll try here. Redirect if needed.

Well Im installing my cam next weekend and I want to know how to go about painting the intake manifold? I want my intake painted RED. What kind of paint should I use? Do I need a clear coat? Or should I powder coat it? Only problem is I want to do it myself. I dont feel like spending lots of money to make it look red if I can do it myself decent. Whats the process?

I painted my upper intake manifold. (on a 3.4 though) All I used was a few coats of silver high temp paint in the spray can. The guy who did the porting also shaved the raised "3.4 SFI" into a flat surface and I used touch up paint that matches the car to fill in the letters.

nino: That looks real nice! I really like the sick sixx on the lid too!

There are ways to powder coat yourself. I saw something on some hotrod TV show a long time ago about this cheap? powder coating system you can do at home. You just need an oven you can use so you should find one in a junk yard or something and put it outside. I can't remember much else and it sounds like alot of work, but then you could start powder coating EVERYTHING

wish I had more info, someone else has probably seen it and knows what I'm talking about

i think $50 + shipping is pretty reasonable for a professional job.
