What was the first mod you did to your Firebird to make it look better? What should I do?

If you want something that is cheap then paint your interior. If you want to improve the outside of your car the best way is with crome rims. I recommend Arelli's. If you want something cheap for the outside then you could wax your car, you could put crome emblems on which I'm not too fond of except the little bird that goes on the front fascia, or I guess change your wing, but I don't have a Firebird so I don't know much about that. I just know that I don't like that U/rap-a-round wing, that thing looks horrible. Since you have a 98+ I would strongly recommend a WS6 hood, those are tuff, if it wasn't for that hood I don't know if I could say that Firebirds look beautiful.

I got a custom third brake light as my first appearance mod. I got it when it was only 25 dollars, but demand has gone up and so has price... up to 45! Check my site to see what I've done to my car.

Thanks, is it possible to change rims but keep the tires? And how much is a really really good deal on rims? What about install?

It all depends on what you want and you probably want to get a new set of tires. The new tires are not only going to look better because you can get low profile but they're going to make your car handle and feel better because they'll be wider. I think for a basic set of rims that are crome you'll pay about 800. If you want a good set like I have 2 grand easy. For good tires you're looking at 600. These are retail prices. If you can get rims used then the price will of course be lower. You might be able to get some rims at a discount by BSing with one of your local rim places. I've called a few places to see if I could get some rims for my grandfathers 99 F-150. I want KMC Bofa's. I've asked around for 20's and I've gotten as low as 2100 with tires. I have 17's and I paid 1900 plus 600+ for tires. I don't know, maybe Arelli's are more because they're from Italy.

What I was telling the rim places was that I had a car club and if I could find a place that would be willing to go down on the prices that I would tell everyone I knew and we would get rims and tires from that place. Now, I don't have a car club but I do know a lot of people who mod their cars and if I people go to JOHN DOE(the guy that works at the place) and tell him Michael sent you and you'll get hooked up on rims. This is a little desperate but it worked.

I kept my old tires. I went with 16 inch Camaro rims, because the stock Firebird rims sucks butt! No problems yet!

I am biased....but....

I like a good set of rims first, with a drop and shocks next.
A new fiberglass hood, something agressive.
Then to each his own. :D The more fiberglass the better, gfx, etc. :D

EDIT: Just no aluminum (sp?) shopping cart handles though...leave those ebay sales alone. Those that saw the post understand.

Hmmmmm...there's really not anything you should do first because so many mods would look great! :D
It's too hard to choose so just start a list and then put them in order as to what you can afford and do a few or one at a time and check them off as you go.

The first mod I did on my 94 was the exhaust, then tires/rims, K&N filter, radio/sub/amp, fog lights, tail lights, rear decals, custom mats, flame job, reupholstered interior, handpainted center caps and finally rear window decal! That's where I stopped only because I sold the car. I did alot of the work on my car myself too :D Check out my home page and see the pics of my 94 http://www/geocities.com/pewter2kformula

On my Formula the first thing I did was the Skip Shift Eliminator!! I did some engine stuff right after since my boyfriend's lease on the SS was ending soon. He gave me a Strut tower brace, whisper lid &Lou's short stick. Then I did some decals and new tires. And I have a list of mods to come!

You'll never be done modding your car...there's always something new to do that someone comes up with or you think of! :D :D Have fun!!!

-Michelle

I'm thinking getting decal overlays for the badges and like exhaust tips now.. just to start small.. then see how that looks, paint hte calipers.. but I don't know.. that's kinda rice I think.. we'll see how it looks when I put it together.. you think that's ricey? painted calipers to match badges? This message board site rules.. its so helpful!
