Hey wassup....i really messed up my car since i hit it when the roads were slick and the car automatically did a 180 and i hit a road sign...it was the scariest thing...anyways i ended up in a ditch. Now i need a paint job. Can i get an ok paint and body work for 1000 to 1500 dollars? I just want it to look stock for sale.

If all you're going to do is sell it, then go to Maaco, they usually do a s***** job, but it looks good for the first 6 motnhs. You'll end up paying less than like $500

Won't insurance cover you on that whopass fbody? Anyway maaco does do a pretty crappy job, i work for an autobody shop where I live and we work on lots of cars that were painted at maaco before. Maaco just likes to paint and get their money. From what I hear, I don't work there or anything, they don't prep their work to well, such as sanding scuffing or wetsanding corners and other small areas, this means that the paint can start to chip easily around these areas and start leading into the paint. On top of that I don't think they know how to mask everything off. A good paintjob you won't find overspray left all over the windows or overspray on the paint. It basically comes down to you get what you pay for. If I were getting a job done at maaco, i'd prep the whole car myself, that way you'll know you have to get a pretty good job done. I think you can get one around 1000 for a 4 year warranty or something.

I guess you could if you are just going to sell it. If you plan on keeping it... no way. Maaco is probably the #1 joke around body shops. To get the whole thing done right(like factory), you're looking at $3000-$4000, maybe a little less, but not much. I've got some connections and have checked into it.

If you're going to sell it, you want to go fairly cheap. Theres basically a right way and cheap way to do it. Just get the best thing Maaco has to offer instead of their cheapest.

However, if you want it done right, you'll need to go to a body shop. Shop around, but remember you get what you pay for. The cheap places simply take off the top coat and repaint. Whereas a good body shop will sand all the way down, smooth any surfaces that are in need, use the highest quality grade paint and primer, and make it look like it came from the factory. That should cost around double what you said you wanted to pay, but its your choice.

For $1500, you won't get that high quality paint, etc. that will make it look brand new and last. If you are going to sell it, you can go cheaper though. Almost any 'new' paint job will look pretty good for the first 6 months.
