i just did mine. I still havent put it in but it looks soo soo good. I started off by taking of the vent covers, stereo cover, glove box door, auto shift knob, center console and center console box lid. They all come off easy. Only screw i remember are under the coin change holder in the console box. The others were under the glove box hinge.
I washed with dawn, then sanded, then washed again andthen cleaned with rubbing alcohol. I tried a few paints first. Trim paints from walmart and clearcoat from walmart. The paint didnt look very good and the clearcoat gave it a white glaze.
I painted over that with krylon from an auto store and a krylon clearcoat. Worked very good and gave a great shine. There is a finger print or 2 on the center console box, but other than that it is great.
Be sure to tape, sand and clean it well with alcohol. Also shake, shake and shake your paint before using.
I'll take pics of mine soon.
(i also cleaned the shifter sliding pieces while i was there so it slides real smooth)97 RS
Member Status: F-Body Owner
Member Number: 7705
Registered: September 13, 2005
Posts: 24
Email Address: hfoxx123@yahoo.com
Location: Minnesota
Occupation: Database Administration
Homepage: http://none
Car: uh a camaro

I had my neighbor do mine, he owns a body shop. He just sanded them and then painted them the same color as the car with a small amount of clear coat. They turned out great and only cost me about $75! It is one of the best mods you can do to your interior!

I am sticking with the Krylon. Everybody seems to want to spend mucho dollars on paint, when a can of Krylon and Krylon clear worked very well. My procedure was very similar to REDs. Remove part, sand with heavy grit, sand with light grit. 2 coats white primer, 2 coats red gloss, 1 coat clear. If the coats of red turn out orange peeled, I was wet sanding with about 200-400 grit. The only problem I was having was cracking, for which I just sanded back down and repainted. Not sure whether it was temperature and/or humidity related for I was doing parts all year round in the basement.
