I have a black camaro(96) and was wondering on an underglow kit. if i should get one and what color to make it? does anyone know the laws on having this on your car? I live in the state of washington if that helps. My interior is billet aluminum so no color matching will be required.

I would dont say dont get one at all. If you do though, plain white ones look cool on black cars. And if the laws (and cops) are the same as they are here, you will get pulled over every 5 seconds.

white, if you really want one. id say no kit at all. they only really work on heavily appearance modified cars, spoilers gfx hood wheels etc... then maybe it could work if youre going that route, and its still not really my style.

by the way, did you buy those window louvres?

Personally the underbody neons I don't like are the ones where the bulbs are showing, gfx or not. I know that in a lot of places the installs that have the bulbs showing are illegal on the street but even so I still like the bulbs to be tucked under the car so that it is more of a subtle glow.

Black light (like the purple UV kind- no, I wasn't trying to be a smart@$$) is actually a good color to go with on a black car, but white would be just as good.

well here is a story for you, i had a neon years ago that i riced out"hehe" anyway driving home from a new years eve party i got pulled over by the cops for the lights. and i got a ticket for something like 200 bucks. i don't really remember it might have been more. anyway i was summons to court also. so i went to court and i fought it cause the cop wrote me up for the wrong law.(his mistake) so they said no points but i still have to pay since there is no way of knowing if i was still going to drive with them on again. so i told them that i was wasn't, they said yeah right prove it. and then i pointed out my 3 day old camaro in the parting lot, showed them proof that i sold the neon and then i got out of there scott free! lucky for me. but i doubt that anyone else will have that luck. but if you want to have them bad enough then i would take a drive over to your nears police station and ask them about the laws. and good luck putting them on. they were a bit@h for me.

Yea, do what Kristen said. The laws vary very drastically from state to state. I did a lot of research on it because I had planned on buying a very expensive show kit for my car at one point. In the state of Oklahoma, any color for an underbody neon kit is legal. In some states, any color besides ones that emergency vehicles use is legal, such as blue, and red. In some states, only wierd colors are legal, like purple and I don't remember what else. Either way, the only sure and safe way to find out is to go and talk to a police officer face to face. That way, if some cop pulls you over and tries giving you a ticket because he's an idiot when it comes to law, you know who to go to to get it resolved.
