  • replacing the plastic dashboard

I searched before i made this post and found a couple other people with similiar problems regarding the plastic dashboard cracking. However, i couldn't find anything about how difficult it would be to replace it with a new one, from what i can tell it looks to be just velcro, is there anything else involved in putting in a new dashboard and how easy is it? Any help would be appreciated. It's a 98 firebird.

It depends if you have t tops / vert or a hard top (removing the pillar covers that hold down the dash part is more involved with a hard top).

T tops version make the whole process easy. You just need a Phillips screwdriver.

Be careful - the big dash piece is very susceptible to cracking as it gets old / sunworn.
I solemnly swear I am up to no good.

Wow, I didn't know there was a problem with them cracking. Mine's got a nice big crack all the way down it, but I never really looked into it.

It is very common hee in Florida due to the intense sun.

I always use a sun shade now.

Yep, i've had to replace mine already. I haven't bothered with getting the edges under the A-Pillar though. Seems like a hassle.
