• Polished hood struts (pics)

I've been meaning to polish up these hood struts for a while now. It turned out pretty nice. I think i'll probably do the same for the ones under the hatch.

Just a pic of the car sunday at a show after wash, clay, polish, glaze, and wax.

      Thanks a lot!

I just started with 150 grit sandpaper to take off the paint. Then i saned them down with 400,600,1500 grits. Finished it off with some mothers aluminum polish.

That is definatly a great looking camaro. Do you think I'd be able to do the same, except get the struts red?

you could get them red by painting them of course. you wouldnt even need to sand them down to the metal, just rough them up with say about 500 grit and paint. dont forget the clearcoat.

make sure you have someone help you hold the hood!

Awesome...Awesome...Awesome - underhood. Is that an intake elbow from an LT1, on there? Or is it "just me"?

im thinking im going to try to polish the thermostat housing, maybe the throttle body eventually, possibly stainless steel hoses, redo the wire loom (probably blue, but im not sure yet), maybe even take off the valve covers and polish them.

started with a sanding wheel on a dremel to take off all the texture and scuff it up. then i just did the same thing i did for everything else. start at 400 and worked my way up to 1500 and then polished with mothers aluminum polish. the alternator took forever.
