rear driver side quarter panel

so I recentely got a ding put into the body right behind the driver side door. It may sound ironic, but it was right after I pulled the side moulding off, it is in the exact spot of that last little piece. The ding isn't creased and it didn't break the paint. I was wondering what would be the best and easiet way to get behind there without drilling, so that I might be able to lightly pop it back out.

It may be in a spot where you will have to ~either~
1) invest in a strong suction cup, like the ding-king seen on TV. I know a few people that tried this, and they say it only works on doors and front fenders because the metal is thinner than metal on quarterpanels.
2) drill a hole and use a bodywork slide-hammer to pull the dent and then fill the hole with bondo, sand, and paint. This is probably the best method, but the hardest and most expensive.

If there is a way to get behind it, then put a piece of 2x4 on the inside of the dent and hammer the dent back out. Just don't go crazy with the hammer!

that is what I was looking for was someone who had found a way to get behind that piece, since it didn't chip any paint, I was hoping to fix it myself. thanks for the reply.

whitefirebird96 if your form cookeville then you have probably seen me

and try taking hte inside panel off it might provide som access to the area you are talking about.

since we are on the subject how would you get behind the driverside rear fender?

from what ive heard those ding kings, ding doctors, etc. on tv do not work if you can get to the sheetmetal from under the car u can probably pound it out. if not and those dent thingys on TV dont work it shouldnt cost very much at all to have it pulled at a body shop cuz it didnt chip the paint

blackbyrd, the only way I know to get at the back of the panel is to take off the interior from the trunk side. I had a gash in the passenger quarter panel and the area where the spare tire is, gave access for the body shop to get to it.

I just wasn't sure if the gap from the inside was enough to get down to that corner piece, or if there was a way to take off the fenderwell easily and work at it.

they have tohave access to it from behind and they use like a allen wrench lookeing tool with a smooth bend in it and the just apply pressure to the backside of the dent and it kind of just rolls it out (this was a small dent on a eclipse i saw done but they did drill on the inside of the door jam but when they were done they put like this little black plastic disk to cover the whole and it looked factory to me

You can probably get to it by removing the interior rear seat side panel as Blackbyrd suggested.

I know at least there's a hole very near that spot for the speaker. You may not even need to remove the whole panel, just pull the speaker out.

Yeah I've seen people do that. There is a company called "Dent Wizards" where I live that have those special tools to roll small dings and dents out. I'd look in the phone book for someone like that before I'd try to pound it out yourself.

has anyone removed that interior panel on the driver side, if so, can anyone give me some instructions on how to go about it. I am guessing you have to pull out the rear seats, but I couldn't find if the panel is screwed in, or has some sort of snaps that hold it in. thanks for any help

i think there are some screws beneath the speaker grill and there is some kind of tab underneath the hanger on the top of it

and then the whole thing just kind of 'pops' off?

The quarterpanels are a pain to get access to from inside the car, as the only point of access is through the hole that the rear speakers mount in.
Once the speaker is removed, you will notice that there is a third panel, that basically sits in between the outer fender and the inner panel.

The ding-king option sounds the best possible option to me.
(oh, and they're no good on doors and front fenders on our cars as we know that they're made of plastic)
