Does anybody have a copy of (or know the web address for) the tail light conversion write-up that Dark Angel (z28.com) did? I check both this board and the z28 board and wasn't able to come up with anything. Thanks in advance....

do a search, I did it, I think mustangeater did it too, its really easy, just cut one wire and splice, nothing to it.

I assume you're talking about the thread
Tail Light Thread
What I'm asking is about making the turn signal and brake light operate on the same light, as MustangEater was getting at with the diodes.
I want to know how to re-wire my car so that the lights work exactly as the earlier cars. The turn signal switch is identical between the 97+ and the pre-97 cars, so it's not just a matter of swapping that out.
I'd rather not use the diodes since they wouldn't work exactly as the 93-96 cars.

Out of curiosity why does it have to be the same as a 93-96 car? Are you planning the directional mod or something?
I wonder if just jumping it from would work without a diode. It woudl flash and work just fine but if you hit the brakes during slow down in theory it would all go solid on that side but maybe not since we never tried it.
I cannot remember on 93-96 lights do they go solid or continue to blink if the signal is on and brakes are on?-Eric
2000 NBM V6 Camaro 5-speed T-top converted
14.467@95.45mph $0 in mods
The member formerly known as MustangEater8251

The background of this is that I have a 97 Camaro that I switched to have 96 tail lights. Currently I just swapped the light casing, leaving the sockets and wires how they are.
Ultimately I'd like to get sequential tail lights, which generally require the brakes and turn signals to operate on the same wire, which acts as a 'trigger' for the other two lights to light up after a delay.
As far as I know, braking w/ a turn signal on keeps one brake light on while the other side blinks. I don't think this would be possible by using diodes (both sides would be on constantly).
Any thoughts on this? I think I need a pinout for the turn signal switch harness or some wiring diagrams to compare. I have the Chilton manual, but the diagrams in there seem to be incorrect, as they list the wiring for the brakes as the same from the 96-98 cars, which can't possibly be the case.

sounds too involved. I tapped off a running light wire to my old turnsignal socket to let the whole lamp illuminate at night, but the brakes were still the outer 2 bulbs, and signal was the innermost bulb, I believe with the sequential kit you have to cut everything up anyways and make a new harness with new relays and such, so getting your taillights like 96 ones would be a waste of time.

I wouldn't bother, but now that I've seen the sequentials, dang, that's cool. Guess I'll be doing that one soon..We can save a lot of time if you just assume I know everything...

SXS Camaro -
http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/703383
or http://home.tampabay.rr.com/whitewrld/
