its not to hard to get to it. just take the bottom of the dash apart. theres only 4 screws. tilt the wheel all the way down take the 2 screws out of the top of the plactic piece around the gauges. then just pull that piece out. be careful not to crack it. then unscrew the cluster (4screws). now this is where it gets tricky.
1. pull the steering wheel al the way down and while holding it w/ your chin/teeth. dont let it go up and lock in place.
2. get the cluster loose and pull the TOP out first that the only way you can get it.
3 whne you put it back in put the bottom in 1st.
youll need a phillips screw driver and a 7mm socket2002 35th Anniv. Black Camaro M5
Mods: Carsound Cat, SLP Loudmouth, Whisper Lid w/ K&N, J&M LCA\'s, ST Springs, eD Stereo(146.7 dB)
\'88 K1500 305 V8 Auto(Winter)

Been there, done that... went back to stock.
You can see where it fades out in the blue on the A/C, and it fades out at 120mph cause I got the paint to thick. I just did it to see if I would like it, before I actually went and bought some LEDs for it, but I liked the results enough that I never changed it. If you want help on changing/painting the radio lights, message me, I can help ya part of the way through.~Chris
1999 Hugger Orange Camaro
http://www.cardomain.com/ride/273836

†…faith…hope

The shifter light is easy to get to. Open the console lid, remove the two bolts that are under the change holder. Remove the staple shaped C-Clip on the front (radio side) of the shift knob. You can see it easier if you put the car in 1st gear. Then remove the shift knob. Pull the console up and back slightly, you'll feel which direction it needs to move. Then just look for the wire going into the sliding gear indicator. Twist the bulb loose from the console, and then remove it from the housing. Replace, and then reverse these steps. Good luck~Chris
1999 Hugger Orange Camaro
http://www.cardomain.com/ride/273836

†…faith…hope

I assume the gear indicator isn't lit up, and thats why you were looking to change the bulb. If you can't find the wire, maybe that's why the light isn't on. It is pretty easy to find since it plugs right into the plastic that's bolted into the console. It's right there next to the shifter, near those sliding "gates". I'll try to get a pic this weekend if I can remember, but you should be able to see it right away. It's one of the few things that would keep you from pulling the console out when you take loose.~Chris
1999 Hugger Orange Camaro
http://www.cardomain.com/ride/273836

†…faith…hope

Easy shift light & ashtray light. This looks awsome in my 94 Camaro. Go to Wal-Mart or any aftermarket parts shop & buy licence plate bolts that have blue or other color led's in them. These will have the proper rated resistors attached already. Pull the lights out of the bolt with a pair of pliers. Pull up the shifter plate, cut out clear light & just splice one in and run the other further up to the ash tray. My ashtray had a hole for it, if you dont have one, just drill a small hole. Just remember to keep the resistor on the wire.
