  • Paint job vs value

    hey all,
well after paying off my firebird i broke down and bought a Vette. Anyway the paint is a bit faded on the rear and nose. A friend has advised me to "keep it as original as possible" but im looking for second opinions? do you think a (prob black!) paint job would negatively affect the value of my Vette?
    thanks!

What year Corvette is it? What kind of shape is it in? Did you buy it to drive or as an investment? All of those things will determine what you should do. Either way, get it painted. If the car is older and in very good shape and your primary purpose is for an investment, then have it repainted the original color. Otherwise, do it whatever color you want.

I would personally try to stick to the OE color if I repainted it.

Perhaps it just needs buffing instead? Ive restored many paintjobs using a very good buffer and a few compounds.

Dominic, I'm betting it's a C3 with the poly nose and tail. They tended to fade and were almost impossible to get to match perfectly.

Blackbird, let me know what the car has on it (engine, carb, tranny, options, etc) and I can give you a rough idea of how rare it is.

Id defiently repaint it... But then again when I do get my dream(C5 vette) Im painting it neon green. It's mine for life holme's. But if it was just a kool for now maybey make some money I would paint it back to the origional color.
