Ok, update... I bought some epoxy and patched up the tear below the bolt hole and then bolted it all back together and brush painted it black to match the rubber at that point. It still looks a little distorted at that corner of course, but at least this should keep it rigid. As long as I didn't overtighten the bolts putting it back up to the plate, it should be fine.
I know I sound like a worry wart, but I have been dreaming of owning a Camaro since forever and my goal is to preserve it now that I have one as much as I can. After seeing older Camaros that have been ragged out and abused, my goal is to care for this one so that later on down the road it is as beautiful as the day I bought it. This includes the parts I can't see. Straightening things out is not a big deal, but keeping it all intact and rigid is a big concern.
