I've got a question about the OEM black plastic split wire loom versus the split wire loom I bought at Pep Boys/Auto Zone. Is the wire loom from these places tough enough to withstand the heat generated in the engine compartment?
The reason I ask ... I've been replacing the faded, dirty, original wire loom. Today I replaced the 1/2 inch wire loom around the negative battery cable. It comes within 2 inches or so of the left side exhaust manifold heat shield. Yesterday, I replaced the 1/4 inch loom around the crankshaft and camshaft position sensor wires; these lie right up against the front of the block (behind the crankshaft pulley).
I'm pretty sure it gets REAL hot in these areas. Can the Auto Zone/Pep Boys wire loom stand the heat?
