I want to take the paint off my calipers and I was wondering what is the best way to go about doing this. Since brakes are a sensitive piece of automotive equipment I was wondering how do I go about doing this with damaging any equipment with harsh chemicals. What do you guys think? After I strip them what color do you suggest I repaint them. They are orange now to match my car but I think I want to paint them like ZO6 brakes black and red. How do you think that will look?

To get the paint off, use a drill or dremel moto-tool and put a wire brush on the end of it. It worked for me very well.
For a hugger orange car, I think you should match the calipers to the color of your rims. I don't know why you want to get rid of the color you have now, but it's your choice.
Black may look good also.

A method I used one worked VERY well for me, but you need good venhilation!
I used brush-on paint stripper, and took some steel wool to the metal (wearing heavy duty rubber gloves).
I did that to the rims on my 98 GSX-R1100 "organ donor" bike, and they came out really nice. If I still had the bike, I'd send pics, but too many times of seeing my life flash in front of my eyes made me get rid of it.

Let me send you a set of powdercoated calipers in your choice colors and then send me your stock ones back when you get them...
I'll then sandblast the paint off... so that would be the easiest way 2002 Camaro SS 6 Spd
Sebring Silver Metallic
Still breaking it in
Traded in - 2002 V6 5 Spd Camaro.
\"I\'ll never trust squirrels again.\"

Heh, brake fluid will strip it off pretty easy too, if you aren't careful. Lol, but thats not a very cheap way to go about getting the paint off. Good luck man. Paint thinner should do it.~Chris
1999 Hugger Orange Camaro
http://www.cardomain.com/ride/273836

†…faith…hope

I would use brake cleaner to get it off...brake cleaner eats through everything.--David--
The NEW V6Bird Website!
Cardomain site
ΔX
