  • cloudy rims????

I dont know why but my stock rims started to look very cloudy again... they arent the chrome ones, they are painted (I guess). I have no idea whats up and its getting more noticable. What can I do??? Use some kind of polishing compound or what? It looks fine when wet but when it drys it looks cloudy.

Sounds like the clearcoat is starting to wear off. Re-clearcoat them, and they should be nice'n shiny again. My stock salad's did that, and another application of clearcoat made them shine like new and alot easier to clean.

Clear coat spraypaint is like 3 bucks.

It shouldnt hurt your rims, but to clear them yourself is tedious. If you have the money take them to a paint shop and have them re-cleared or if you know somoen who can paint well have them clear them with a can of 3 dolar clear coat as mentioned above. I had a similar problem with my Boyd Coddington Shyster rims. Only Boyds rims aren't chrome they are polished billet aluminum. I was cleaning my rims as normla with some all safe rim cleaner. When i hosed them off it hazed the rims and looked cloudy as yours does. My rims u cant use wheel cleaner on them. Just soap and water , also I use Mothers polish on them once a month that is when i have them on the car during spring-summer.

Or, just get ceramic brake pads and never worry about cleaning stubborn brake dust again. My rims clean like new with a little soap and water. I clearcoated them myself, but I also had no tires on them at the time and plenty of days to do it. $3 was all it cost me.
