I just got my plates today. How do I take off the Bird plate on the front of my car?

• #2
There's two small allen head screws on the bottom of the plate. You have to look in the crevice between the bottom of the bird plate and the bumper. Take out the screws and the top has a piece that fits into the top part of the bumper, that just slides right out.

btw... Why do you want to take it off? why not just keep it on and put the plate inside your windshield? It looks so much better off...

thanks for the help. I know, they do look so much better w/o the license plate. It's just that I'm claying my car right now and need to get in there plus I drove around my old car with the plate on the windshield and it bugged me. At least I know that I can put the Bird back on whenever I want unlike my 3.4 that stayed with three holes on the nose that looked ugly bugged.

I noticed you are in california, and if the rules are the same as they are in Orange County, it is only a $10 dollar fix it ticket. I have been ticket 2 times, in the five years I have been driving without one. So if I break it down it cost me approximately1 cent a day to keep it off. I would say it is worth it.

Edit: You cant put the licence in the window, at least here, because the law is the front most part of your car. But you can always play dumb and get away with it.

My only concern is (and I know this is VERY dumb of me) is that I have a tendency to drive after a I have a few drinks. Now granted, I'm not plastered most of the time but there are times a person can tell I've had a couple of drinks. So if I got pulled over for something stupid like a license plate and got a DUI cause some cop wanted to really lay down the law, I would kick myself across the country. I just think having the license plate on the window would look so ghetto. I don't know. I'm in a quandary about this.

Not too smart...sometime you might have an accident and someone innocent could be dead :( . I think you should worry more about drinking and driving then not running a front plate!

One cent per day for five years is $1,825 buddy, not $20. So you pay a lot less than 1 cent a day.

Well I know it is $18.25, but saying
" that is .0109589041095890410958904 cents per day" just doesn't flow right. Check that number and it will be $20, buddy. But to be mathmaticley correct I will say "approximately" in the edit.
