• Hood question?

This might be a dumb question, but I was just wondering if there is a way to make the hoods open the opposite way. Kinda like on the vettes?

I'm not sure exactly how the vette or viper hoods are made to open that way, but I'm guessing the shocks are just swapped to the front. That would be original if it could be done. It's probably more trouble than it's worth to get into. Anyone tried this?

Fieros have little lever type things that click up instead of shocks. You would want to copy the fieros idea before vipers and vettes because it only opens the hood, and doesnt lift the fenders or push the front bumper. IF you want some pictures let me know and i can dig some up.

Yeah, sorry. I forgot the viper pulls the fenders too. Might look impressive if it could be done. If anyone successfully changes the hood so that it opens from the back, I would definitely want to see it. IMO it would be tough since the shape of the front of the hood is a little odd compared to the vette (the way the hood juts forward just above the front license plate). Anything can be custom made with enough $$$ though. FAD2Blk: nice car by the way...wish I could get some pics of mine on here. I'm still working on that.

Thanks man. I am going to try and have this done. The reason is because nobody I have seen around my area has the same stripes as I do, and definitly not of that type of vynal. So when I have the car at shows and the hood is open, not a lot of people can see the hood unless they walk around to the side of the car. So to try and get a little more attention, and still have them be able to look at the engine bay, I wanted to open it the opposite way. That way it is 1. very different from the norm 2. up straight so they can see both the hood and the engine bay. If I am able to get this done I will post pictures. I will have to do some more checking on it though, might be difficult

You could get one of these

Fiberglass front ends with the fenders attached. and Have the whole front end pivot over like the vettes do.
Not only will it be the coolest thing ever, but it will drasticly reduce weight. You could even have the hood open the regular way, and even both ways at the same time.

That fiberglass front-end might work, but both of our groundeffects might have some issues with that trans-am front end. I'm not sure if the front piece would fit or not. I'm sure it might work, but I intentionally didn't put the T/A front bumper on my car when I had all the body work done. I want people to know it's a firebird. If you do end up trying it, good luck.

you'd have to seriously modify that fibverglass piece to work w/ the stock front end, w/ the headlights, foglights, ect.
