  • Can it be done? (Side exhaust)

I'm interested in getting something that nobody else has... we all know there are all sorts of options for the F-Body exhaust systems, but I've never even heard of side exhaust for the F-Bodies. Has anybody ever seen a fourth generation F-Body with side exhaust? How do you think it would look? Think there is any custom shop that could get it done, and any rough approx. price? This is pretty exotic, I think it'd probably be some expensive custom work...

I though of doing something like this awhile back, and I still think it would look nice! Especially something like the Saleen Mustang, where the sidepipes are painted the same color as the car and the ends (just before the rear wheels) are chrome tips. I thing it would definately be unique, and look awesome if done with compassion/care/...right.

I saw one earlier this year. Someone posted an ebay page with a Camaro with someo really fugly looking side outlet pipes.

they weren't anything like the Mustang ones where they're actually molded into a gfx package or anything, but these were actually pipes. It didn't look good at all.

I assume that if you could get it molded into some gfx like some Mustangs do, that it might look alright, but so far the only one I have seen so far looked like crap :D

Personally I think it looks dumb! I found this car on Frankers site and I truly think that the side exhaust messed the car up.. In looks!

Thats really the only good picture I could find!

Look closely at the side exhaust here
              http://www.dodge.com/viper/experience/flash.html
That would be BadAss on a Camaro or Firebird.

ps: nevermind being on a camaro or firebird, I want that CAR!

I saw a side exhaust on a 2000? WS6. He had headers running down to straight pipes (no cats, no mufflers, but room for something) and then bending and coming out the side before the rear tire, under the ground effects. He had TA style chrome oval tips. It looked pretty good (one side was a little low), but I'd love to have seen it with the tip in place of the ground effects (cut that part of the ground effect out).

Yeah if you were to do it it would have to be straight pipes. No room for a muffler. And it would probably only look decent if it was cut into GFX.

dmiller, yeah, that red camaro looks pretty ugly. I think the side exhaust on the rt10 viper and the saleen mustang is pretty dope. I guess there's no way you could do it using the pipes, and I don't know of any companies that make body kits that harness side exhausts for camaros.

Guess i'd better start saving up for some major custom work

Is that the kind of exhaust you are talking about. The one I seen on E-bay had side pipes like the older Vettes had. Too bad I still don't have the link. Here's just what it looked like, but picture it on a Camaro.

These look ok, then again they are venting a 7.0, so the way they look is a mute point. Coming out of a gfx i think would look pretty sweet.
