It doesn't say anything about having neon lights. They could nail you if it's blue, because you can't have blue lights.

It's different for each state. Some states it's legal, some it's not.

Sorry man I did the research and I sure as hell wouldn't have given $50 of my hard earned money away if it wasn't illegal and in writing.

Any clearance lights that are colors other than the stated above, are illegal in Florida.

Yea, but that specifies front, side and rear lights, not anything underneath the car. The only "prohibited" color would be blue. I'm gonna call the Sheriffs office and ask.

I email the state police, heres what they said:

"There is no statute regarding neon lighting. Therefore, the lighting must not violate other statutes. Indiana Code is available on Access
Indiana at www.state.in.us/legislative/ic/code. Red lights are prohibited when visible to the front, except on emergency vehicles (IC 9-19-14-5.5). Green lights are restricted to EMTs (9-19-14.5-2), however, as of July 1, 2003 that is
only flashing green lights. Blue lights are estricted to volunteer fire fighters (36-8-12-11). Flashing lights are prohibited except to
indicate a hazard (9-21-7-11). If the light is displayed, the color spectrum must be amber to white to the front and amber to red to the rear (9-19-6-17).
Otherwise, vehicle lighting may not be "visibly distorting to other motorists."
Generally, Indiana Code Chapters 9-19-6 and 9-21-7 cover most of the vehicle lighting statutes."

I live in Missouri and emailed both the local police and the highway patrol before getting my neon installed. They both gave the same answer - as long as the bulb is not showing, you're good to go (At least in MO). So what I did is took the emails, printed them off (including my questions and their responses) and keep them in my car, so if I'm pulled over I'll have something to work with. I have a set of Red Streetglow Gold Series...and I made sure I asked them about red in the emails...so there's the good news on MO. Hope this helps a little bit for everyone.

Sounds like they don't really want us to know the answer so they can pull us over for it whenever they want...

                        Yeah, maybe.

I'm not one to bash a cop for pulling me over when I was breaking the law, or throw around the 'doing nothing but eating donuts' cliche, but I've had some other issues with the local law enforcement as well as the FHP in the past couple years, sometimes it honestly seems like they don't do their jobs.. but I could be wrong.

here in H-town Tx its illegal to have neon lights.

But just hit the Richmond strip on a sat night, and the cops are cool about it, you can do just about anything. Except if it brings harm to another person or street race.
My car has GPS trackin\',traffic alert, its own phone #,PS2,screens. And What da H3ll,When I Turn da key it says \"You\'ve got mail\"..... <br />I swear and promise.. Domestic Violence: Does the statute I posted early in this thread mean neons are not allowed in Florida? Wasn't sure if that refers to lights under the car, it doesn't really specify. I searched all of them and thats the closest I could find. I've been cited for it, but I went online and looked at the record, and there was no statute number like there normally is.

I also emailed the FDLE and haven't gotten a response.

                              Thanks.

I emailed the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles and got the answer from them about my state:

<blockquote>quote:</font><hr>What colors and types (under body, in-car, etc.) of neon lights are legal?

Lights must not rotate, oscillate, or flash, but state law does not prohibit the
use of colored neon lights under your car as long as they do not interfere or
                                blind other drivers.

Ohio Revised Code, section 4513.17 prohibits flashing lights on motor vehicles
with the exception of emergency vehicles, turn signals, and hazard flashers.

As long as the neon lights are less than 300 candle power they are not in
violation of any State law. If the lights are more than 300 candle power they
must be directed to strike the pavement the vehicle sets upon at a distance of
no more than 75 feet. The lights can not exceed 500 candle power. Colored
lights, such as neon lights around a license plate, could be illegal if the
light illuminates the plate and changes the colors of the plate. State law
requires a white light to illuminate the rear license plate.
                                <hr></blockquote>

I guess as long as I have this email with me in my car, I should be alright.
