Looked at carhoods.com and liked the ram air hood, and was thinking about purchasing it. However, should I get the steel or the fiberglass one, advantages disadvantages of each? I have a standard 2001 white camaro. Also, am I also assuming that I'm going to have to get it painted myself? thnx people

It says that they have to be cut to be functional. I like the Firebird 93-97 Ram Air II Hd... It looks like the Predator hood a little. I want to see what the first one looks like.

I have a fiberglass ram air hood on my car. Advantages are that it's very light weight, which is going to shave off some pounds. I would imagine steel would be a lot heavier and would just add to the weight. Really I can't think of any reason not to get fiberglass. If you have an air compressor handy I'd recommend you go down to your local paint shop and get your color matched and purchase some supplys and do it yourself. For the price you spend on the paintjob you might as well just get an aircompressor to do future painting jobs. It'd be the same price.

Most aftermarket hoods are fiberglass.
You are correct in saying that you'll have to get the hood painted yourself. Would you actually want to have it shipped painted already and risk it getting scratched or the paint not matching your car?
When I got my Ram Air hood I paid $250 to have it painted and installed on my car. The paint matches perfectly and to this day it looks awsome!~Jennifer~
« Black 2002 WS6 »
¤ Flowmaster 80
¤ Painted Calipers | Black / Silver Decals
¤ 5% Tint | All Around
¤ Zaino | =)
