  • Tinting problems with rear hatch glass??

Okay, I just got all my windows tinted about 2 months ago. I noticed my back glass was bubbling up pretty bad along the dot matrix on the top of the glass on the rear hatch. I took it back to get it redone today and they said the only way to solve that problem is for them to just cut out the tinting on the top part of the glass where that dot matrix is. I don't want a big clear strip of glass there though. Anyone have this problem? What did you do so it wouldn't bubble up there, if it's possible to do anything about that? I heard about people ordering a separate piece of tint for the back glass but I'm not too sure about any of that. I don't want to spend alot of money on it though. Any suggestions?

This was discussed not to long ago on here. Do a search and you might be able to find it. I used a tennis ball on mine. Somebody on here can't remember who, used some rubber thingy he got from a hardware store.

The key is that it has to be done well in the first place. The best solution is to remove the tint and do the whole thing over, IMO.
I solemnly swear I am up to no good.

Don't take that bs from them, I have had two of my f-bodies back hatch done, and I have never had that problem. The people I get it done at, are the same people that do it for the Chevy and Pontiac dealerships around the county. When I had mine done, they were also doing a brand new firehawk...droool...

Anyway, a good shop can do it, and tint the whole window, none of that half ****...If they cant do it, get it taken off and get your money back, and find someone who can.

They did redo it and it looks exactly the same. They said there really isn't away to fix it unless you just don't tint that part.

A looooooong time ago when I had my first car done, the guy said that usually what they do is sand that matrix down flat. Don't know if this is "normal" procedure or not. I don't remember what it looked like afterwards though.

I will say agian, that a good shop can do it. My hatch is tinted with the matrix part. I had fix nothing, because my shop did it correctly.

Of course, you can always take their bs and find a way to temporarily fix it, then when it bubbles agian you will have to try and fix it again accidently scratch it, and void the warranty.

                      thats just my .02

I just got my tint done. They used vinyl tint for the dotted part at the top of the hatch so it wouldnt bubble. They told me that it would bubble if they did not use part vinyl/ part regular tint. Get it redone if its under warr. And ask them to use vinyl for that part. Hope this helps you out bro.
