well i posted last week that i have bought my ttops for my conversion but i have my g/f's brother telling me that i will need to use an old roof of a car with t-tops and its gonna cost me thousands of dollars. when doing the t-top conversion and cutting away the side beams how much risk is involved?

Your g/fs brother is one stupid or two likes to get raped on charges...

your are buying the roof from a t-top car... if you are following anyones instructions here the parts theya re telling u to buy is what u are missing from your car as it stands..

of course there is a risk cutting away at your own car... once u cut something u can't make it come back. i think 8 people or so have already dont this on this board alone... try emailing one of them?

Don't worry about it man. The side beams that you cut out are not important for the structure of the car. They are to adhere the top to. the main support is in the middle and that goes untouched.

I'm doing mine right now...you won't reget it, and it won't cost that much at all!

        Good Luck

Have your g/f's brother look at any of the 8-10 or so links with pictures and writeups on t-top conversions.

If I can do it in my parents' garage for <$700 without breaking anything, catching anything on fire, or hurting myself than almost anyone can do it.

                Good luck
