Need some help . . .

i need to replace this piece on my console.



how do i get the piece off and the new one on??? i dunno how to get it off or on because the shift stick runs through this piece and the stick is obviously attached to the car. at the top of the stick there is the handle and the piece cant fit around the handle. is there a way to take the handle off??? i noticed the bottom of the stick is welded to a bigger piece of metal so its gotta come off over the top. HELP!!!

There is a clip holding the handle to the stick....there is a little hole on the engine side of the handle...I'm not quite sure how to get it off...but take a look.

It's ususally not a clip on it. It should be a staple. Just take a flathead screwdriver to it. :D It changes on every car for some reason, mine had a staple and my friends had a clip. Good luck, ;)
